Marine Elementary School's Sixth Grade Musical

Marine Elementary School’s 40th annual sixth grade musical opens tonight with performances scheduled at 7 p.m. through June 3 at the Marine Village Hall.

This year’s performance of ‘Oliver! Our Own Twist' stars the entire Sixth Grade class in all roles, with the Fifth Graders singing in the chorus.

“The students do an amazing job, as most of them have never appeared on stage before, much less in singing roles,” said Abby Brown, the Marine Elementary sixth-grade teacher. “Our work on the play meets curriculum standards, but equally as important, it builds lifelong skills and confidence.”

This year parents are kicking off a fundraising effort to establish an endowment fund to support future plays.  Scenery with signatures from past productions, beginning as early as 1978, will be on display.

Tickets for the show are available at the Marine General Store and all are invited. Donations can be made out to the ‘Marine Parent Association’ and mailed to Marine Elementary School, 550 Pine St., in Marine on St. Croix.
