Father Killed, Son Critically Injured in Stillwater

A father has died and his son is in critical condition following a domestic disturbance report.

Stillwater, MN – A father has died and his son is in critical condition following a report of a domestic disturbance in Stillwater.

On July 8, the Stillwater Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Mulberry Street West on a report of a domestic disturbance, according to a news release.

Assisting in the response to this incident were the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Stillwater Fire Department and Lakeview EMS. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation.

An adult male, identified as William Mark Scheel, age 59, sustained grievous life-threatening injuries and died from the injuries.

The man's son, William James Scheel, age 30, also sustained serious injuries during the incident and currently is in critical but stable condition at Regions Hospital.

While the incident is still under investigation, there is no further threat to the community, police said.

The Scheel family asks for privacy at this time.
