Former Chisago County Teacher Sexual Assaulted Student: Charges
The victim alleged she had been sexually assaulted by her former teacher who was employed by the Rush City School District until 2000.
A former teacher from rural Minnesota has been charged with third and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct following a year-long investigation by the Chisago County Sheriff's Office regarding the sexual abuse of a juvenile female. The alleged incident occurred back in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
The victim reported she had been sexually assaulted by her former teacher, Jon Michael Hughes, who was employed by the Rush City School District beginning in the 1980's until he resigned Nov. 21, 2000 from his position. The resignation occurred shortly after a complaint was filed with the Rush City School District regarding the sexual abuse of the minor female, according to a news release.
During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Hughes had entered into a signed stipulation with the Minnesota Board of Teaching in Sept. 2001, and acknowledged that he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with the complainant during the time he was a teacher and employed with the Rush City School District. The Chisago County Sheriff's Office was unaware of the allegations until December of 2014 when the victim came forward filing a report of the sexual abuse.
