Fourth of July: Two F-16s will Fly Over Downtown Stillwater
Two F-16s from the 148th Fighter Wing will fly over Stillwater's Independence Day event about two hours before the fireworks, which are set to start at 10 p.m.

Military jets will fly over downtown at about 8:10 p.m. Wednesday.

“Because we are covering such a large area in the UP of Michigan and central Minnesota, it's possible we could run a few minutes early and/or late,” an email from Maj. Audra A. Flanagan to Stillwater City Councilmember Mike Polehna reads.

The F-16 flyover will be provided by the "Bulldogs" of the 148th Fighter Wing. The 148th is the Duluth-based Air National Guard unit who has previously deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
The Bulldogs will be deploying to Afghanistan later this summer.

Fireworks will start at 10 p.m. and will feature colorful explosions that will fill the entire horizon of the St. Croix riverfront.
The Independence Day show will be set to music that will be simulcast on KLBB Radio AM 1220.

In the case of inclement weather on the Fourth of July, a rain date for the fireworks show is set for Saturday, July 7.
The cities of Stillwater and Oak Park Heights, along with the Margaret Rivers Foundation, have partnered to contract a $35,500 fireworks show put on by RES Specialty Pyrotechnics.
