He was born in Newark, New Jersey, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been involved in graffiti art since the 1980s.

Since then he has pushed the boundaries of what is considered graffiti and street art to include in fine art, commercial art and public art.

As a recognized artist, his fine art paintings combine elements of graffiti and abstract expressionism to create large scale, rhythmic and expressive compositions that transcends mere technique.

Scape’s first book, GRAFF: the Art and Technique of Graffiti, was the first ever how to book on graffiti art and is an international bestseller.

In 2009, he began public speaking engagements to discuss his unique perspective on art and creativity.
