The end of the Stillwater Area Public Schools academic year will come one day early for students across the district this summer.

The end of the Stillwater Area Public Schools academic year will come one day early for students across the district this summer.

The school board has approved a shortened calendar for students, which will move the last student-contact day of the school year from Thursday, June 1 to Wednesday, May 31.

The change will allow more time for the packing and moving of furniture, equipment and materials into new spaces throughout the summer, the school district says.

Approximately 200 staff will be moving within and between buildings for the start of the 2017-2018 school year as a result of construction, grade configuration and boundary changes, according to a news release.
