Man Sentenced For Sex Trafficking Washington County Girl, 14

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Washington County Attorney Pete Orput announced that Joshua Carlisle, 25, of Saint Paul was sentenced Thursday for sex trafficking a 14-year-old girl and for the promotion of prostitution.

Judge John R. McBride sentenced Carlisle to 120 months in prison and 90 months in prison on those charges respectively. The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Attorney Imran Ali of the office’s Major Prosecution/Human Trafficking Unit, according to a news release.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, the 14-year-old victim told police that she had been trafficked by Carlisle on Backpage.com and had sexual relations with at least two different men in exchange for money which she turned over to defendant.

Orput stated, "This case illustrates our community’s need to protect those in our community who are the most vulnerable, our youth. We need to recognize that sex trafficking is no longer on the urban street corner, but in our own homes, urban and suburban, as a result of social media."

Police departments involved in the cooperative effort to recover the juvenile victim and securing the sex trafficking conviction were Woodbury, Oakdale, Forest Lake, Stillwater, Saint Paul, Minneapolis, as well as the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
