Stillwater Man Abused Woman, Fumed Over Tent Zipper: Police

The Washington County Sheriff's Office has charged a Stillwater Township man with felony-level domestic assault.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — A Stillwater Township man has been charged with felony-level domestic assault. The Washington County Sheriff's Office alleges that the defendant, after consuming large amounts of alcohol along with Adderall pills, threw a woman into the St. Croix River, threatened to drown her.

Police said things appeared to have calmed in the morning, until the defendant became angry about a tent zipper not functioning.

The criminal complaint states that the woman eventually flagged down a pontoon passing by in order to getaway from the defendant. The couple on the pontoon picked her up from the island. As they did so, they heard the defendant yell vulgarities toward the woman, the complaint states. The pontoon owners drove the woman to a marina where she was able to call the police.
