Previously we have discussed looking in the mirror and respecting what you see as well as respecting yourself enough to live a healthy lifestyle. Sure, we talk about losing the last 10 pounds at kids events, or look in the mirror to make sure our bellies or buns are tucked in nicely but when you do this, think about what kind of a message you are sending to others who may be watching or listening. Here’s the deal: YOU ARE AN IMPORTANT ROLE MODEL to those around you! Whether the people watching you are your kids, your parents, your neighbors, co-workers, friends or more - people are watching, listening and paying attention. So let’s up our game a bit here and aim to be a good and healthy role model mentally, physically and emotionally. Instead of talking about the last 10 pounds to lose or discussing how we need to kick the chocolate or beer habit - let’s turn this into something positive or simply not say anything at all. People are listening, especially the children around us. Let’s get back to believing how amazing our bodies are! Our minds can think, mouths can speak, arms can hug, heart can love, legs can carry us, feet keep us balanced and much, much more-SO many amazing actions our bodies can do! We all have different thoughts, bodies, and things that we do with our thoughts and bodies AND are supposed to be different from each other.
What really matters is that we shift the focus on what our bodies can do not just what they look like! We all may just be happier and set a better example when we keep the focus on health and a good quality of life instead of a few pounds! So take a bike ride on our nice new trails, paddle a canoe, rent a paddle board on the river, take a walk, try a rip-stick and just simply enjoy living in your body!
