Mom Killed In Crash Grew Up In Stillwater
(Originally published in February 2017.) Lindsay Marie Cardinal, a loving mother and wife, was killed in a crash Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Lindsay Marie Cardinal was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe on Highway 23 with her three children, Lilly (5), Wyatt (4), and Evelyn (1) when she was struck head-on by a GMC Yukon that had crossed the center line.
Cardinal was killed in the crash, and two of her children suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Yukon, a 29-year-old male from Milaca, survived and is suspected of being intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The 35-year-old mother lived in Foreston, Minnesota, but grew up in Stillwater.

Cardinal graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 2000, according to the Star Tribune. She then went on to play rugby at St. Cloud State University.
Cardinal, a loving mother and wife, was devoted to her husband, Matt, a veteran and volunteer firefighter. The Star Tribune reported that Cardinal was a board member for Women in Need of Kindness, a Minnesota nonprofit that gives emotional and financial assistance to cancer patents.

"Lindsay was a wonderful woman, with a contagious smile," reads the GoFundMe page established to raise money for the family.
"On the evening of Jan. 31, 2017, a loving mother and wife was taken from her family far too soon. Lindsay Cardinal, was involved in a head on crash with another vehicle. Lindsay's young children, Lilly (5), Wyatt (4) and Evelyn (1) were also in the vehicle. All 3 of the children we transported to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries."
"Lindsay was a wonderful woman, with a contagious smile. The Cardinal family has a long road ahead of them. In attempt to ease some of the financial burden, with funeral costs and medical bills, I ask that of you have the means, please consider donating to this beautiful family."
