Motorcyclist Leads Police on Chase Before Shooting Himself
Police say the Coon Rapids man failed to stop for officers and led them on a five-mile pursuit before shooting himself.

A 38-year-old Coon Rapids man is dead after fleeing police and shooting himself.
The Wyoming Police Department attempted to stop a motorcyclist around 10:09 p.m. after receiving information that the driver fled law enforcement in Anoka County stemming from an incident in the city of Oak Grove involving the brandishing of a handgun.
Police say the man failed to stop for officers and led them on a five-mile pursuit.

The chase came to an end in the way side rest area off Interstate 35 in Forest Lake when the driver crashed his motorcycle into a fence, according to a news release.
Preliminary reports indicate the driver fired a single shot from a handgun after crashing his motorcycle before officers could exit their vehicles.

As a result, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There were no shots fired by officers involved in the incident.
The case remains under investigation.
Forest Lake Police Department’s investigation is being assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Ramsey County Medical examiner.
The name of the deceased suspect is not available at this time pending notification to his family.
