Music Saint Croix presents Leonard Bernstein's Candide

Enjoy an evening of stage and song as Music Saint Croix presents the rarely performed, 1973 “Chelsea Version” of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide! Featuring many familiar tunes such as “Glitter and Be Gay,” “Make our Garden Grow” and the operetta’s famous Overture, the Chelsea Version is scaled down for 13 players – perfect for our chamber music setting in Stillwater. A project begun in 1953 by Bernstein & the playwright Lillian Hellman, Candide is based on the satirical play by Voltaire. Throughout several revisions, including lyrics added by the great Stephen Sondheim, the Chelsea Version is the earliest edition of Candide available for performance today.

Performances are Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 at 7:00 PM at the Washington County Historic Courthouse, 101 Pine Street West, Stillwater, MN 55082

Tickets are available at the door prior to each performance. Tickets are $16 general admission and $10 seniors & students. The Courthouse is fully ADA accessible.
