Also starting Wednesday, parents are no longer allowed to drop off students early at schools due to staffing shortages, and students cannot have their friends ride the bus with them, officials said.
Though the district found room on its buses for almost 1,000 more students than previously anticipated, about 900 students will remain without district-provided transportation options.
District officials said they plan to add new bus routes as more drivers are hired. They are encouraging anyone who is interested in driving school buses to apply at metrotn.com.
