No-Wake Restrictions Lifted from the St. Croix River

The automatic no-wake restrictions that were put in place on the lower St. Croix River after heavy rains in May have been lifted. The river water level at 11 p.m. Monday was at 680.5 feet in Stillwater.

Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton told the Pioneer Press that erosion, fast river currents and debris in the water is still a concern.

"Just because the water level is under the no-wake level, doesn't mean debris isn't floating," Hutton told the Pioneer Press. "There's a lot of debris out there right now. ... If debris is just under the water and your boat hits it, it's definitely a safety issue.”
