UPDATED: Owner Eyes Nov. 9 Opening for Stillwater McDonald's

McDonald's hopes to open the doors of their new Stillwater location on Nov. 9

The new fast food restaurant will be located on Orleans Street and Stillwater Boulevard. The plan is to decorate the walls of the new restaurant with historic photos of Stillwater, along with digital menu boards and flat screen televisions.

The Oak Park Heights location closed this week for demolition.

“We have been trying to rebuild the Oak Park Heights McDonald's for a couple of years, but the uncertainty of the Stillwater bridge, the restaurant project was delayed," Pat Duval, a McDonald's owner/operator wrote in a statement to Stillwater Patch. "With the bridge plans now complete, we received permission to rebuild the restaurant, since it's over 40 years old and in dire need of a complete rebuild.

We are hoping that the new McDonald's, located on Orleans Street, will open on November 9.”

UPDATED FROM: Oct. 17 2:17 p.m.

The Stillwater area can expect two brand new McDonald’s buildings in the near future, but for now customers will go without a local golden arches.

The Oak Park Heights McDonald’s location closed this week for demolition, but the fast food restaurant’s new location off of Stillwater Boulevard is not yet complete.

This summer, McDonald’s owner Jim Duval, owner of these two McDonald's locations, said he was targeting a mid-October opening for the new location.

The plan—at that time—was to close the Oak Park Heights location when the new building in Stillwater opened, tear it down and then rebuild it this fall.

Stillwater Patch has placed messages with McDonald’s asking about the closure and plans to rebuild the Oak Park Heights location, as well as when the new location in Stillwater is expected to open.
