Police: Gophers Hockey Star Erik Haula Cited after Urinating in Public
University of Minnesota Golden Gopher hockey player Erik Haula was cited for disorderly conduct last weekend after police reportedly saw him urinating on Water Street in downtown Stillwater after bar close.
Erik Haula, aΒ University of Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey standout and 2009 draft pick of the Minnesota Wild, was cited for disorderly conduct last weekend after reportedly saw him urinating in public.
At about 2:24 a.m. July 22, police saw a man urinating while standing on Water Streetβon the west side of the βin βplain view of the bar crowd at bar close,β the police report states.
The officer identified the man as Haula, 21, of Minneapolis, and advised him he couldnβt urinate in public, the report states. βHaula agreed.β

It was βclear that [Haula] was extremely intoxicated,β the report states. Haula was cited for disorderly conduct and released to a friend who was βsomewhat sober.β
The hockey star was not arrested and was βvery cooperativeβ throughout the process, the report states.

Haula was the Gophers leading scorer last season with 20 goals and 29 assists, according to gophersports.com. As a sophomore, he led team in points (49) and shots (152).
In 2009, Haula was a 7th round pick of the Minnesota Wild. He has chosen to stay at the University of Minnesota and play the 2012-2013 season for the Gophers.
