Ponies run past Roseville soccer in 4-0 victory
Holder, Shilling each score two goals for Stillwater as they prepare for the post season
Stillwater's Katie Holder and Allie Shilling each took the scoring spotlight on Tuesday in different halves of the Ponies 4-0 win at Roseville.
“We started a little a slow, but we did a good job of getting forward on passes and finishing our opportunities,” Ponies coach Amanda Maxwell said.
Holder scored two goals in the first half with the first one coming at nine minutes in the first half. She hit inside the upper corner of the goal to put the Ponies up 1-0. Allie Reinke assisted on the goal. She then went outside the goalkeeper box and found the upper corner again at the 37th minute of the first half.

“It was great to see Allie Shilling get two goals,” Maxwell said. “She has been in the mix all season, so they were well deserved.
Shilling put the Ponies ahead 3-0 with a break-away goal on a 1-on-1 situation. Shilling then scored a second goal with an assist from a teammate.

The Ponies had 23 shots in the game, and their keeper need only four saves for the shut out. The Ponies did commit 12 fouls however.
“It was nice to see us finishing our opportunities as we go into a big game on Thursday and and the start of sections next week,” Maxwell said.
The Ponies improved their record to 8-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the Suburban East Conference. They will take on White Bear Lake on Thursday.
“I think we can win our section if we come out and play hard,” Maxwell said. “We have to come together as a team, but I think we have a shot.”
