UPDATE: WisDOT ID's Stillwater Man Killed in Rollover Crash

A 20-year-old Stillwater man died Friday evening after he lost control of his car on a downhill curve, went into the ditch and rolled the vehicle.

A 20-year-old Stillwater man died Friday in a single-vehicle rollover crash south of Hayward.

Sean Eric SchoonmakerΒ was driving a 1995 Toyota eastbound on Wisconsin Highways 27 and 70 just before 6 p.m. Friday when he lost control of the car on a downhill curve, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The vehicle left the road, went into the ditch and rolled over, the report states. Schoonmaker was reportedly the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

According to the WisDOT, he was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected.

Schoonmaker was going to be a junior at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, according to a report on news8000.com. He was reportedly on his way to a friend’s cabin when he lost control of his vehicle.

Schoonmaker was involved with the Campus Crusade for Christ, and according to the news8000.com report, he and was set to lead the men's ministry this coming school year.
