Saint Paul Man, 18, Drowns In St. Croix River Tuesday

A 19-year-old Saint Paul man drowned Tuesday in the St. Croix River after trying to swim to an island on the St. Croix River.

A 19-year-old Saint Paul man drowned Tuesday in the St. Croix River after he and a group of men were trying to swim to an island on the St. Croix River. The 19-year-old struggled and went underwater. An 18-year-old Maplewood man who swam back to help then struggled and also went under water.

Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen told KSTP that police took a water rescue call just after 5 p.m. The Maplewood man was taken to shore unconscious and was revived. The body of the 19-year-old was found after an hour of searching.
