Stillwater Area High School Music Department Rummage Sale is Oct. 13

The proceeds of the Rummage Sale are divided equally among the three areas of the music department.

The Stillwater Area High School Music Department is holding its annual Rummage Sale on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school.

According to Stillwater Area High School Choir Director Erik (Doc) Christiansen, the sale is “the Costco for rummage sales.”

Last year, two of the high school’s gyms were filled to capacity with clothing, books, linens, kitchenware, sporting goods, toys, and more.

Organizers expect the same this year.

Occasionally, more unusual items are donated—past years have included antique wicker furniture, a canoe and ornate lighting fixtures.

The Rummage Sale started as a choir fundraiser more than a decade ago. After several years, the sale had grown so large that choir parent volunteers alone couldn’t manage it; so in 2005 it expanded to include the band and orchestra programs.

The proceeds of the Rummage Sale are divided equally among the three areas of the music department.

The choir’s money is used every year as an operating budget—primarily to buy new sheet music. In past years the band and orchestra’s portions have gone toward the purchase of instruments.

The Rummage Sale is open to the public.

The entrance fee for the rummage sale is $3 for adults. Admission is free for children under 18.

If you have clean, gently used items that you would like to donate to the Stillwater High School Music Department for the Rummage Sale, bring them to the Stillwater High School gym on Friday, Oct. 12, from 2 to 7 p.m.

The music department is not able to accept donations of the following: large furniture, electronics, televisions, large appliances, large exercise equipment, helmets, cribs, car seats, and highchairs.
