Stillwater Boys Lacrosse Falls Short in Loss to Woodbury

The Ponies lost a close 7-6 game at Woodbury Monday night.

The Stillwater Ponies Boys Lacrosse team traveled to Woodbury Monday night to play a hard fought game that was close until the final horn. The game started with the momentum favoring Woodbury as they scored the first two goals of the game. Stillwater responded with goals by Carson Cannon and Charlie Register to tie the game at two after the first quarter. Samuel Mathieu added another goal for Stillwater in the second but after wo more Woodbury goals, teh Ponies trailed 4-3 at the half.

Stillwater came out strong in the second half as Cody Holsten scored two consecutive goals to give the Ponies the lead. However Woodbury rallied to score three consecutive goals to take a two goal lead late in the fourth quarter. The Ponies still did not give up as Ryan Aldridge added a late goal and the team had a shot attempt in the very final second which would have sent the game into extra time. However it was not enough for Stillwater as they were defeated 7-6 and their record dropped to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

The Ponies' next game will be played at 7:30pm, Wednesday May 18th at home against Mahtomedi
