Stillwater Brings 26 Racers to Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival

Bikers trek 40 miles in annual festival.

The 29th Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival hosted 26 Stillwater residents on Sept. 16-18.

As it has since the first Fat Tire Festival in 1983, the Chequamegon 40 starts in Hayward at 10 a.m. on Saturday with over 1,850 riders making their way through the dirt and mud 40 miles north to Telemark Resort. Another 900 riders competed in "The Short & Fat," a 16-mile race starting in downtown Cable at the same time.

Stillwater resident Chris Klohn finished the Short & Fat 16 in 57 minutes finishing 20th overall and second in his age category (men 45-49.)

Other Short & Fat racers include: Norman Busse, Darcy Busse, Pamela Dougall, Jerry Engen, Garrett Klohn, Jesse Busse, John Walker, Lisa Shafer, Tim Parker, Tony Goldstein, Tammy Klohn, Ben Johnson, Henry Johnson, Brent Johnson and Steven Bauer.

Chequamegon 40 participants include: Gregg Hietpas, Troy Herlick, Tim Trissler, Tim Hogan, Reed Ross, Tom Quist, Renee Combs, David Stricker, Annette Reed and DeWayne Combs.
