Stillwater Fire Department's New Pumper Truck on Display Today

The new pumper will be on display Thursday, June 30, at 4pm at the Stillwater Fire Station.

The Stillwater Fire Department recently received it's newest piece of firefighting equipment: a "Green Star" pumper.

β€œThe new engine is a much anticipated addition to our frontline apparatus” Stillwater Fire Chief Stuart Glaser stated in a press release.Β β€œI am very pleased with the truck specification committee and the hard work and thought put into this new piece of apparatus. Our Citizens should be proud.”

The new pumper will be on display Thursday, June 30, 4pm at the Stillwater Fire Station.

The new truck is replacing a 25 year old engine, which will be placed in reserve status.Β Over the past several weeks’ new equipment has been mounted on the vehicle and fire personnel have participated in training on the operations and features of the new fire engine.

* The new "Green Star" pumper is built on a Freightliner M2-112 4 door chassis with 370 horsepower DD-13 engine.

* The truck is equipped with a Rosenbauer β€œEXT” heavy duty extruded aluminum body, rear mounted 1250 GPM Waterous fire pump, 750 gallon water tank, Foam Pro 2001 foam system along with an 8KW Green Star auxiliary engine driven generator power unit, Holmatro rescue tool power unit system and all LED warning light package.

* The vehicle also has a number of safety features designed to improve performance such as antilock brakes, airbags, seatbelt indicators, LED emergency lighting, and reflective stripping all aimed at crew safety.

* The new vehicle utilizes β€œGreen Star” technology, which uses an auxiliary generator to operate the vehicle when the main engine is not required. Green Star reduces fuel use, improves the life span of the vehicles main engine, reduces emissions and the overall maintenance costs of the vehicle.
