Stillwater Girls Golf Heads To State

After a third place finish a year ago, the Stillwater Area girls golf team returns to the Class AAA state meet today for another shot at the team title.

The Ponies finished behind New Prague and Edina a year ago. They begin their quest for the team’s first title since back-to-back championships in 1986 and 1987 at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. The first tee offs are set for 11:30 a.m.

Stillwater’s Cassie Deeg and Hailey Boner led the way as sophomores at last year’s state meet. They finished seventh and eighth, respectively, and return this year to take another shot at the state field.

On the boys side, Stillwater’s Drew Lynch will be competing individually. He tees off at 8:51 a.m. this morning.

Patch will have a photographer and reporter on hand over the two-day the state tournament, so check back for updates on the Ponies' results.
