Stillwater Jr. High Attempts Guinness World Record

Stillwater Junior High School students are working hard to raise awareness
of the global water crisis and support their “H2O For Life – Water For South Sudan” project. On Tuesday,
May 20, 2014, at 1:15 p.m., students will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for “The Most people
Carrying Jugs of Water On Their Heads.” Students will each carry a one gallon jug of water on their head for
100 meters on the Stillwater Junior High School track. Jugs will be donated to Valley Outreach after the
event.

In support of the world record attempt, the Stillwater City Council will proclaim May 20 as "Stillwater Junior
High School H2O For Life-Water For South Sudan" day!

Stillwater Junior High students have now raised $51,000 for Water For South Sudan through t-shirt sales, an
annual Walk For Water, Lost Boy of Sudan events, community public speaking engagements and a variety of
school-based fundraisers. Six clean water wells have been funded!

Thanks to a partnership between the H2O For Life organization (a Minnesota-based nonprofit) and Water
For South Sudan, Stillwater Junior High students not only have a deeper understanding of geography
concepts related to culture, migration and the refugee experience, but are also able to contribute to a
better future for the family and friends of the Lost Boys still in South Sudan. More information about
Stillwater Junior High School project can be found at www.fromsudantostillwater.wikispaces.com
