Natalie Phippen set to play in Section 4AA semifinals Monday morning. One will will guarantee her a top-two finish in the section and a trip to state.

ON THE LINE
The winner advances to the section finals later in the day, and also secures a berth in the 16-player state tournament field.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
After a first-round bye, Phippen—the top seed in the 30-player tournament—has breezed to a pair of straight-set victories losing a total of just three games in the four sets. Welch, the No. 4 seed, has won all three of her matches in straight sets, but was finally tested a bit in the quarterfinals, where she won 6-1, 6-4.
IN THE FINALS …
Second-seeded Hannah Shands of Mahtomedi and third-seeded Helen Klass-Warch of St. Paul Central will meet in the other semifinal. Neither of those two has lost a set yet either.
