Stillwater Man Charged With Stalking, Threatening A Social Worker

The 19-year-old man allegedly told a social worker he would slit her throat if she came to his apartment.

A 19-year-old Stillwater man was charged with stalking a social worker and making terrorostic threats this week stemming from an incident three months ago in the 6400 block of Panama Avenue North.

On Feb. 3, Stillwater police responded to a report that Shane Robert Lewandowski threatened to kill a social worker who requested to visit his home because the conditions of his apartment were β€œunacceptable,” according to a criminal complaint filed by the Washington County Attorney’s Office.

Lewandowski was talking with the social worker about an incident that resulted in his friends being trespassed from his apartment, the complaint states. The social worker told police that as the conversation continued, he became β€œenraged” and stated that no social worker or county employee was going to come and do a site visit of his apartment.

According to the complaint, the social worker told Lewandowski she was going to be at the apartment the next day and to make sure the home was clean because, based on her observations, the conditions were "unacceptable.”

LewandowskiΒ  allegedly told the social worker if she came to the apartment, he would β€œslit her (explicative) throat with a machete” and he would burn the building down.

At that point the social worker hung up the phone, told her coworkers of the threat and reported it to police.

When police arrived, the officers found a large machete on the living room floor, the complaint states. When asked why he had the machete, Lewandowski allegedly told the officer: β€œFor the heck of it.”

The officer told the social worker that no one was to contact Lewandowski without the presence of a police officer.

If convicted, Lewandowski faces a maximum of five years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines for the terroristic threats charge. He also faces a maximum of one year in jail and up to $1,000 in fines for the stalking with the intent to injure charge.
