Stillwater Police: A Man With Stolen Kicks Goes to Jail Barefoot

Stillwater Police Blotter: Sept. 17-18.

The following police blotter is compiled from Stillwater police reports and subsequent interviews with the Stillwater Police Department.

Saturday, Sept. 17:

  • A woman went to visit a friend in Washington County Jail and was found to have a blood alcohol level of .264. Since she drove to the jail, she was arrested.

Sunday, Sept. 18:

  • A 41-year-old Saint Paul man was arrested for shoplifting after he was found wearing stolen $80 Nike shoes from Famous Footwear in Stillwater by officers. The man was with a 31-year-old who gave officers a false birthdate. After some more investigating, officers discovered the 31-year-old man had a revoked license and the shoplifting suspect had an active warrant in Dakota County for a prior DWI. Officers confiscated the shoes from the suspect and he went to jail bare foot.

  • The Stillwater Police Department reminds residents they can ask solicitors for their permit at any time. If the solicitor refuses to show a permit or does not have one, call the Stillwater Police Department immediately. Request an official City of Stillwater “No Solicitors sign."
  • In Minnesota Department of Corrections news, DOC employee Lois Freiermuth is the Minnesota Association of Resources for Recovery and Chemical Health’s Counselor of the Year. Freiermuth is a corrections program therapist at the Lino Lakes prison.
  • In Minnesota Department of Public Safety news, Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Week is Sept. 18–24, and DPS is emphasizing the life-saving importance of correct child safety restraint and booster seat use to keep children safe while riding in a vehicle. In Minnesota, three out of four child restraints are used incorrectly. Children are riding in the wrong restraint or it is not properly secured. According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety: Office of Traffic Safety, only 53 percent of child crash victims were properly secured between 2006 and 2010.
  • The County Public Health Department and the Sheriff’s Office recently joined Code RED. Code RED is a web based system which will allow the county to reach citizens by phone and text messaging. To sign up for Code Red, click here.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is seeking citizen assistance in locating the following individuals. These persons have active outstanding warrants through the Sheriff's Office. If you have any information on the current whereabouts of any of these individuals, please contact either the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 651-439-9381, or your local law enforcement agency.

Do not try to apprehend these individuals or make contact with them on your own.

Height: 63” Weight: 120

Hair Color: BLACK

Eye Color: BROWN

Race: A – ASIAN

Yang has a Washington County Felony warrant for Violation of a Harassment Restraining Order. Yang has been known to the Sheriff’s Department for felony harassment restraining order violations, motor vehicle tax evasion and driving with a suspend license. The preceding items were taken from theStillwater and Oak Park Heights police departments. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred. When names are used, it indicates that felony charges have been filed in Washington County District Court.
