UPDATED: Stillwater Police Investigate Overnight Theft of Three Vehicles

Three vehicles were reported stolen last night in Stillwater. All three vehicles have been recovered, one of which was reportedly driven into a tree at the Somerset Ampitheater in Wisconsin.

Stillwater police are investigating the theft of three motor vehicles that occured last night in a three block area.

All three vehicles were reportedly stolen sometime during the overnight hours of Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 from the 500 block of Oak Street, the 600 block of Olive Street and the 400 block of Martha Street.

Two of the vehicles were unlocked and had keys inside the vehicles. A window was brken out on the third vehicle, and the thief reportedly punched out the vehicle’s ignition system.

All three vehicles have been recovered, according to police. The vehicle stolen on Oak Street was recovered near Martha and Pine; the vehicle stolen from Martha Street was found on Olive Street; and the vehicle stolen from Olive Street was recovered in Somerset, Wis.

A 52-year-old Stillwater man received a call from the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office at about 2 a.m. Friday when officials told him his truck was found pinned up against a tree at the Somerset Ampitheater.

The man reported that his 2002 GMC Sierra was parked in the driveway of a home in the 600 block of Olive Street at about 10 p.m. Thursday. The keys were on the floorboard of the truck, and it was left unlocked.

About four hours later, Somerset police located the truck β€œpinned up against a tree.” The officer found tools piled onto the accelerator, the doors open and music blaring from the truck.

Police conducted a K-9 search in the areea, but no suspects were found.

According to Somerset police, nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle. The Stillwater man’s wallet was found inside the vehicle, and it appeared to have all its contents and cash inside.

A 28-year-old Amery, Wis., woman reported her vehicle stolen from the road in the 400 block of Martha Street South. She told police the vehicle was stolen sometime during the overnight hours.

Her vehicle was unlocked and the keys were left below the driver’s seat, the report states. Her vehicle was recovered on Olive Street.

A 57-year-old Stillwater man reported the third stolen vehicle, a pink, 1964 Mercury Comet, after he awoke to the vehicle missing from the driveway of his home in theΒ 500 block of Oak Street.

The thief reportedly broke out the window out and punched out the ignition. That vehicle was recovered near Martha and Pine. A stereo was reported stolen.

There are currently no suspects, but police believe there is a "high probablity" that the thefts are related due to proximity.Β 

The case remains under investigation.Β
