The following police blotter is compiled from Stillwater police reports and subsequent interviews with the Stillwater Police Department.

Tuesday, Sept. 6:

  • A man reportedly started making himself a cocktail in the parking lot of Haskell’s after purchasing a pint of liquor from the store. Officers were unable to locate the man.
  • A woman called police stating that a man in a grey minivan tried selling a plasma TV to her husband in the Target parking lot. Officers believe the man is homeless and a narcotics user.
  • Two men in hooded sweatshirts were spotted crawling in the weeds behind a home on Parkwood Boulevard by a woman who was watching the house for the owner. The men ducked down and ran when the woman told them she was going to call the police.
  • A 16-year-old boy from Stillwater Township was arrested for fifth degree assault after he punched a 16- year-old boy from Grant in the face at Benson Park. The victim received stitches in his lip at Lakeview hospital.

Public Safety Messages:

  • In Minnesota Department of Corrections news, Kent Grandlienard has been selected as the new warden of the Oak Park Heights maximum security prison.
  • In Minnesota Department of Public Safety news, DPS released a report Friday stating in 2010 Minnesota had the lowest number of alcohol-related crash deaths on record. Last year, 131 motorists were killed in alcohol related crashes, a 21 percent drop from the 166 deaths five years ago.
  • The County Public Health Department and the Sheriff’s Office recently joined Code RED. Code RED is a web based system which will allow the county to reach citizens by phone and text messaging. To sign up for Code Red, click here.
