Two people from Seattle were arrested Friday morning after police were called about a complaint of a couple having sex in public.

Ryan Michael Krafft, 36, and a young woman were cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly fornicating near an open glass door to a balcony that was about 15 feet from a sidewalk.

Krafft told police he did not feel the couple’s behavior was inappropriate because β€œthey had paid for the room,” the report states. He then became belligerent, according to the report, and made continuously loud statements β€œabout how ridiculous the investigation was and that the complaint was unfounded.”

An officer on the scene told Krafft that having sex in front of an open door in the public’s plain view was β€œdisorderly conduct at a minimum, and was not acceptable behavior.”

Because Krafft was being uncooperativeβ€”and lived out of stateβ€”police placed the couple under arrest, prompting a pat search... and an investigation into possible drug trafficking charges.

While police were conducting a pat search, the officer felt what appeared to be a large lump of bills in Krafft’s left front pocket. It was $5,200 in cash, the report states.

Police also located a cellophane wrapper containing an unknown pill, a pad of paper from a Howard Johnson’s hotel the police report describes as β€œdope notes” and an additional $4,000 in cash located in a small briefcase.

Police seized the cash for the duration of the drug trafficking investigation, the report states.

According to the report, Krafft has an extensive criminal history including possession of heroin, weapons charges, assault, terroristic threats and other crimes involving drugs and violence.

When asked if there were any pills in her purse, the woman told police she is a yoga teacher and doesn’t use drugs, the report states. Shortly thereafter, she told police she has a medical marijuana certificate and uses marijuana regularly.

Police then brought a K-9 to the Water Street Inn parking lot to conduct a β€œwalk around sniff” of a vehicle rented at the airport. During the walk around, the K-9 made positive indications for the presence of drugs along the passenger-side sliding door, the report states. Police then executed a search warrant on the vehicle, but the results of the warrant were not immediately available.

The case remains under investigation.
