1 Dead In Stillwater After Report Of Suicidal Man

Officers from Stillwater, Bayport and Oak Park Heights responded to a call of a suicidal man around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

STILLWATER, MN — Authorities are investigating after a fatal officer-involved shooting in Stillwater early Wednesday morning. Police say on Nov. 21 around 1 a.m., officers from Stillwater, Bayport and Oak Park Heights responded to a call about a suicidal man in the 1200 block of 4th Street South.

Police found a man armed with a knife, according to investigators. During the encounter, one officer fired their gun and another fired their taser.

The man was transported to Lakeview Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Body cameras and squad car cameras were activated during the incident, according to a news release. Officers involved in the incident will be placed on administrative leave per department policy.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been asked to conduct an independent investigation into the incident.
