Police Shoot, Kill 22-Year-Old Man In Stillwater
Officers in the east metro responded to a call of a suicidal man around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

STILLWATER, MN — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting last week in the east metro. Keaton James Larson, 22, was shot after police responded to a call about a suicidal male early Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
Police say on Nov. 21 around 1 a.m., officers from Stillwater, Bayport and Oak Park Heights responded to a call about a suicidal man in the 1200 block of 4th Street South.
Authorities found a man armed with a knife, according to investigators. During the encounter, one officer fired their gun and another fired their taser.

The man was transported to Lakeview Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Body cameras and squad car cameras were activated during the incident, according to a news release. Officers involved in the incident were placed on administrative leave per department policy.

“I feel really bad,” Lisa Carlson, a neighbor, told KSTP. “I had kind of a tough night last night thinking about it.” Hunter Julien was identified as the officer who fired his gun at Larson.
The BCA is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.
