Stillwater School District Sues Bus Company: Report

STILLWATER, MN — Stillwater Public Schools reportedly filed a lawsuit Friday against its school bus provider, claiming breach of contract because the company cannot cover all routes.

Metropolitan Transportation Network will cut its routes down to 15 routes starting Tuesday, the Star Tribune reported.

Bus driver shortages have affected districts across the country as kids head back to school this week.

"District leaders were notified late this week that our transportation vendor has been unable to find drivers for many bus routes," the district said in a statement on Sept. 3.

"This means that a number of Stillwater Area Public School students, as well as a number of charter and non-public school students, will be without transportation starting on Tuesday."

The district is encouraging parents to drive their children to school, if possible.

To help parents, district buildings will open earlier for student drop off:

• High School: 6:15 a.m.
• Middle Schools: 7 a.m.
• Elementary Schools: 7:45 a.m.
