Stillwater Shooting: 20-Year-Old Victim Identified
Charles O'Connell was fatally shot in a residential neighborhood Friday and died hours later.

STILLWATER, MN — The man shot dead last week in a residential neighborhood of Stillwater has been identified. Charles O’Connell, 20, of Stillwater died within hours after the shooting was reported to police.
On Friday at about 7 p.m., the Stillwater Police Department was dispatched to Lakeview Hospital on the report of a gunshot victim. O’Connell was shot on the 100 block of Bayberry Avenue Court and was transported to Lakeview in a private vehicle, according to authorities.
An 18-year-old "person of interest" was arrested at the hospital Friday on suspicion of murder. He was not charged and police released him from jail Monday, the Pioneer Press reported.

The shooting is being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
