Stillwater Shows Support for Family Expecting Triplets

Stillwater residents show up en masse for the Baby X3 Benefit.

Acapulco was bursting with laughter and an abundant sense of community Sunday night as family, friends and strangers alike expected by Briana Sullivan and Pete Wiggins later this month.

More than 75 people arrived at the Stillwater restaurant to extend a hand to the family. Sullivan said she was overwhelmed by all of the support from both her family and the community.

“It’s awesome how many people came out tonight," she said. "I am so thankful for everyone that made this night possible.”

Wiggins agreed.

“I am still nervous [for the arrival], but the support of everyone makes it easier,” Wiggins said.

The night, which was organized by Sullivan’s longtime friend, Sara Jackson, included a Mexican buffet, raffle, Henna tattoos and silent auction. The auction offered over 30 items for bid, including wine baskets, gift certificates to local businesses and themed baskets for children.

Jackson also organized a meal program that allowed individuals to sign up to host a meal for the family, who will be busy caring for three newborn babies.

“I was really impressed with how many people signed up for the meal program," Jackson said. "It will be a tremendous help for Briana and Pete.”

Local band Saving Starz, which was sponsored by St. Croix Oral Surgery, was also in attendance that night.

Prior to the benefit, Jackson spent hours preparing for the event. Bags of clothing by the dozen were all donated to the family, which Jackson washed and separated by gender and size.

“There was a lot of work put into the planning, but I am thankful to have such an awesome team of friends that helped me out,” Jackson said.

Jackson said the night’s success would not have amounted to what it was without the generous help of Acapulco, Saving Starz, her friends, family and all the local businesses that graciously donated items for the benefit.

According to Jackson, the night brought in about $5,600, which is a combination of cash donations, silent auction bids, dinner tickets and clothing donations.

Many who attended the benefit also took advantage of the admission discount by donating diapers.

Before leaving Acapulco Sunday night, Sullivan happily packed a trunk full of diapers and wipes.

All the proceeds will go directly to the Sullivan/Wiggins family, which will be used to cover the costs of furniture, car seats and everyday items that the triplets will require.
