WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — A 24-year-old Stillwater woman faces a misdemeanor careless driving charge after admitting to police she was starring at her phone when she hit a Woodbury teen on his bike May 12, according to authorities. The 14-year-old Lake Middle School student was crossing Pioneer Road when he was hit. The boy suffered fractured bones, as well as internal body and head injuries, according to the criminal complaint filed in Washington Count.
The driver, Jennifer Lyn Allison, told Woodbury police that she was looking at the GPS on her phone before she saw the boy, and wasn't able to stop in time, the Woodbury Bulletin reported. If she is convicted, Allison could face up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
