Target Transforms Into Mario Kart

The Minneapolis-based company has transformed its stores to offer "larger-than-life" Mario action.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Before Mario Kart 8 for Nintendo Switch launches April 28, more than 650 Target stores across the country have transformed, offering "larger-than-life" Mario action. The additions began at the entrance. You know those big red bollards (designed to stop cars)? Now they're Mario and Luigi welcoming you to the store.

"Walking through Target doors always brings a little rush," the company said, but this time you’re crossing a starting line. As you walk through, motion sensors initiate flashing lights and the Mario theme song.

Target has also added a handful of "Super Target Karts," featuring Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach. "So go ahead, leave Bowser in the dust as you do your Target run—and keep your eyes peeled, because we have an assortment of Mario and Nintendo-related products set around the store," the company added.
