Track Star From Forest Lake HS T-Boned In 'Life-Changing' Wreck

FOREST LAKE, MN — A Forest Lake teen and track star suffered numerous severe injuries in a "life-changing" crash earlier this month. Jesseca Overland, 18, was pulling into the driveway of her Columbus, Minnesota home when she was t-boned by another vehicle on Aug. 1.

Overland, a graduate for Forest Lake High School, was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital where she is still being treated. She suffered 12 broken ribs, a broken clavicle, and her pelvis was fractured in three places.

Both lungs collapsed, and Overland suffered injuries to her spleen and liver.

She was set to run cross country and track as a freshman this year at St. Cloud State University.

"She is in a rough state," the GoFundMe established for her reads. "However, if anyone knows Jesseca, she is a tough 'stubborn' fighter and will pull through this!"

"Jesseca is a bright individual with a smile that can light up the darkest room, and a laugh that can turn anyone with tears in their eyes into tears of joy."

The Minnesota State High School League said on Facebook that the "horrific life-changing" crash hit the Forest Lake community hard and its "hurting as well as trying to stay strong for Jesseca."

A benefit dinner is being hosted for her Monday night at Famous Dave’s in Forest Lake.
