Washington County Sheriff's Office Creates Community Engagement Team
The team hopes to engage and educate the community and build relationships with them.

In an effort to build relationships with residents, the Washington County Sheriff's Office has introduced a new program that focuses on community engagement.
Sergeant Joel Legut will head the Community Engagement Team, which will be responsible for not only providing law enforcement services, but also actively looking for ways to engage with the community, according to a news release.

"Our goal is to engage and educate the community and build relationships with them," Legut said.
"We don't want people to be scared of us, but rather embrace our presence within the community."

Legut joined the Washington County Sheriff's Reserves when he was 18 years old and was hired full-time as a patrol deputy in 2003.
