Best Routes For Highway 169 Closure Are I-494, Highway 100

MnDOT is advising motorists that the best routes around the Highway 169 closure at Nine Mile Creek are Interstate 494 and Highway 100.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that the best routes around the Highway 169 closure at Nine Mile Creek are Interstate 494 and Highway 100.

Both roads have been recently expanded and improved and can handle the additional traffic from Highway 169.

Highway 169 is closed at the Fifth and Lincoln and Bren and Londonderry exits through October while crews replace the Nine Mile Creek Bridge.

“We ask people to use I-494 and Highway 100 to get around the closure and to avoid driving through residential neighborhoods because they are not designed to handle high volumes of traffic,” MnDOT spokesman Dave Aeikens said in a statement.

Those who live, work and do business in the Highway 169 corridor from Highway 62 to Highway 55 should continue to use Highway 169. Those who are trying to get farther north or south should use the assigned detours, MnDOT officials said in a news release.

For those who work west of Highway 169 off of Bren Road, the best route is to take Highway 100 or I-494 to Highway 62 and then go north on Highway 169 to the Bren/Londonderry exit.
