After the Parktacular Grand Day Parade, stop by Wolfe Park for Kidtacular activities including the popular Tommy’s School of Fishing for kids sponsored by Citizens Independent Bank. Join SLP’s resident fishing expert Tommy at Wolfe Park Pond and learn the basics, as well as pro fishing tips. Afterwards, kids and families are invited to keep fishing the stocked pond until 6 p.m. with your own rods and reels. Note that anglers 16 and older must be licensed. Join the Pavek Museum for a live performance of a radio play by the Red-Throated League! This year’s Sherlock Holmes tale is “The Adventure of the Crooked Man.” Featuring live sound effects (“Foley”), this performance captures the magic of radio’s early days.
The Red-Throated League is the theatrical company of the Norwegian Explorers of Minnesota, a society for all things Sherlock Holmes. In collaboration with the Sherlock Holmes Special Collections at the University of Minnesota Libraries, the League performs the radio scripts of Edith Meiser, one of the most influential writers and producers of the Golden Age of Radio.

A Sherlock Holmes Radio Play Performance "The Adventure of the Crooked Man"

Pet Evolution will host its first-ever “Paws for a Cause” community giveback event on Saturday, May 16, with participating Twin Cities metro locations donating 10% of all retail sales to local charity partners supporting pets, families and communities in need. Customers can shop pet food, treats, toys, accessories and grooming essentials while supporting local causes through every purchase. The St. Louis Park location will direct proceeds to benefit Underdog Rescue MN.

St. Louis Park Rec Center

Dads of Down Syndrome (DODs) is launching its first annual “DODs Days” music festival fundraiser! The free outdoor festival will feature an energetic lineup of live bands and DJs, a Kids Rave, family-friendly activities, food trucks, and a beer garden with beverages provided by NOLO’s Kitchen, all in support of the organization’s mission to build community and empower fathers raising children with Down syndrome and differing abilities. Admission to DODs Days is free, though attendees are encouraged to register in advance.
The festival will feature a full afternoon and evening of live entertainment, including performances by:
<ul><li>Twin Star Rocket</li><li>The White Keys</li><li>DJ Benny Nord and Up! Entertainment will host an epic “Kids’ Rave” designed especially for young attendees</li><li>Marvelous</li></ul>
Beverages curated by NOLO’s Kitchen will include beer, wine, and specialty cocktails and mocktails. Several food trucks will be onsite during the event, including Parlour, Red’s Savoy, and Revival.
St. Louis Park-based Steel Toe Brewing has also created a custom “DODs Hazy IPA” which will debut at DODs Days.
DODs Days will also bring together several organizations that support families and individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental differences.
