Minneapolis Jewish Humor Festival presents Babes in Goyland: Stories and Songs from the Land of Milk and Hotdish
Featuring Amy Salloway, Neal Karlen, and Ashley Gold
Hilariously acerbic local writer Neal Karlen is the author of Shanda: The Making and Breaking of a Self-Loathing Jew and The Story of Yiddish. Tireless Twin Cities songwriter-poet-musician Ashley Gold has been playing her smart and soulful songs everywhere from the Acadia Café to the Dakota Jazz Club, and is about to debut her first EP “Late Bloomer”. Actress/writer/solo-performer Amy Salloway has been called "raw, fearless and absolutely hysterical" for her touring autobiographical comedies So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!, Does This Monologue Make Me Look Fat? and Circumference.
When these three friends and performers come together, the result is a lively, fast-paced, genre-blending show that interweaves commentary on the coexistence of matzo balls and meatballs, embarrassing behavior at the Western Wall, and dating across the Judeo-Lutheran divide.
