Explorations with the Minnesota Jewish Theatre

Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company ignites the hearts and minds of people of all cultural backgrounds by producing theater of the highest artistic standards. Rooted in Jewish content, its work explores differences, illuminates commonalities, and fosters greater understanding among all people.

Congregation Or Emet hosts Barbara Brooks, Founder and Producing Artistic Director, in what is sure to be a dynamic program about how she formed this nonprofit professional company to enable theatre lovers - Jews and non-Jews alike - to experience a wide variety of plays on current and often controversial subjects.

A short Humanistic Jewish Sabbath service precedes the program, which is free and open to the public. An Oneg Shabbat reception follows.

Background Information:

The plays and musicals at MJTC deal with such provocative subjects as Jewish identity, art, Jewish and African-American relations, the Holocaust, the Middle East conflict, and more. The MJTC is currently presenting the area premiere of a new play, "The History of Invulnerability."

The MJTC has produced five world premieres and more than 40 regional premieres. It won the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council award for artistic excellence and three coveted Ivey Awards. “This theatre allows audiences to explore their common challenges and their shared humanity," says Brooks. "It seeks to entertain as well as to educate.”
