Fall Cleanup Tips and Info for St. Louis Park Residents

Autumn is here, which means the days are growing shorter, evenings growing cooler, and the leaves in the trees began to change from the summer’s emerald green to a dazzling array crimson and gold. Then they begin to fall. Here are some tips and information for fall cleanup to save time, effort, and to keep our surface waters healthy, via the city of St. Louis Park.
Yard waste cleanup tips
• Rake when its dry, dry leaves are a lot easier to rake and bag
• Use the right tool for the job, mow, blow, or vacuum, and watch the size of the rake
• Using a bagger attachment on your lawn mower can do a great job of cleaning up the yard
• Putting leaves on a tarp allows for easy movement of yard waste and speeds the bagging process
Yard waste pickup in St. Louis Park
• City yard waste collection is available through the week of Nov. 21, unless there is a significant snowfall before this time
• Organics recycling participants will continue to have their food scraps and other organic material picked-up year-round using the brown-lidded organics carts
• Yard waste must be in separate containers from garbage and recycling, and weigh less than 40 pounds
• If using bags, they must be BPI Certified Compostable, brown paper Kraft lawn bags, or brown paper grocery bags
• Branches and twigs are accepted and must be put in a container or bundled; maximum size is 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter

Officials ask that if you're cleaning up your lawn this season, and if there’s leaves other debris just beyond the edge of your lawn, to help out and reach out.
