Over the past five or so weeks, I have blogged about issues that have come up in my conversations with you during my campaign. To close out this “From our Conversations…” series, I wanted to spend a few minutes talking about the diversity of our community.
When I began my campaign, I wrote out my thoughts as I was identifying topics that defined me and subsequently my campaign. As you may have noticed the opening line on my website and in many of my materials reads… “we are a fortunate community, unique in our diversity, innovative spirit, commitment to youth, and care for our neighbors.”
The diversity of folks who make up our community is definitive as to who we are as St. Louis Park. I take much pride in the differences among our community that make our city not only unique but define the innovative spirit we have in the Park.

I view my role as a Councilmember to be a steward of this diversity. This means that it is my role to not only listen, but to learn and engage the people of Ward 3 then act in a manner that represents our common good.
We may not always agree, but you have my word that I will wholeheartedly embrace and represent our unique diversity in making the best decisions possible for the health and well-being of our community. After all, in our differences we find the strength of being better together.
