Highway 7 Closed After Truck Loses 368,000-Pound Tank

Highway 7 will remain closed until at least 6 p.m. as officials work to build a crane to lift the tank onto a new 20 axle trailer.

The Minnesota State Patrol is on the scene of a lost commercial load on Highway 7 in Excelsior. Traffic is being rerouted to highways 5, 12, and 212.

A commercial vehicle carrying a 368,000-pound tank lost its load shortly before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Highway 7 will remain closed until at least 6 p.m. as officials work to build a crane to lift the tank onto a new 20 axle trailer, according to a news release.

State Patrol commercial vehicle inspectors are working to determine why the load shifted and fell from the truck. The truck carrying the load leaked both diesel fuel and hydraulic fluids. It is unknown how much fluid was lost in the leaks, but all leaks are now contained, according to authorities.
