New Ad Attacks West Metro Rep For Vote On GOP Health Care Bill

"It's critical that voters know where their representative stood on this legislation."

In its first digital ad campaign of the cycle, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Monday announced digital ads hitting House Republicans, including Minnesota Third District's Erik Paulsen, for voting in committee for the American Health Care Act.

Republicans on Friday killed their own legislation to overhaul the nation's healthcare system after failing to win enough votes for passage despite pleas, threats and proposed deals from President Trump, whose intense and high-profile lobbying effort ended in a publicly naked failure.

This reported five-figure ad buy will begin on Monday, and will be featured on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

"This targeted ad campaign makes clear that every House Republican who voted in committee for this devastating Republican repeal bill will be held accountable from now through Election Day," DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján said in a statement.

"Republicans knowingly voted for a bill to raise premiums and deductibles, slap an age tax on older folks, and rip insurance away from 24 million hardworking Americans. It’s critical that voters know where their representative stood on this legislation."

Specifically, the DCCC ads will be geo-targeted and featured on YouTube pre-roll, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, targeting swing voters 35 years and older, grassroots activists in the districts, and those that have engaged with the topic of “healthcare” on social media, according to a news release.
