October 7 Declared As Energy Efficiency Day In St. Louis Park

St. Louis Park residents are encouraged to sign up for a Home Energy Squad visit.

September 24, 2020

The St. Louis Park City Council has proclaimed October 7, 2020, as Energy Efficiency Day in recognition of the many benefits of energy efficiency, including saving money, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution and creating jobs. The city is supporting this national initiative in recognition that energy efficiency is a key way to meet the city’s Climate Action Plan goals, which call for reducing energy consumption in residential buildings by 35 percent and in commercial buildings by 30 percent by 2030. To participate in Energy Efficiency Day, St. Louis Park residents are encouraged to sign up for a Home Energy Squad (HES) visit. The city is competing in the metro-wide Intercity Home Energy Squad Challenge to promote HES visits, which are available as free virtual visits and $50 in-person visits. Free in-person visits are also available to income-qualifying residents. During a visit, residents learn how their home uses energy and about potential energy-saving opportunities. At the end of 2020, the city with the highest number of HES visits per capita wins the challenge. Sign up for a Home Energy Squad visit and learn more about energy efficiency resources available to residents, businesses and organizations in St. Louis Park.
