Sam's Club Closures Include 2 Minnesota Locations

Two Minnesota Sam's Club locations are among the dozens that will close across the country this month.

Walmart announced Thursday it will close dozens of Sam's Club locations across the nation, including two in Minnesota. The Sam's Club in St. Louis Park and in Moorhead are slated to close Jan. 26. Both locations were closed Thursday to inform employees of the move but will reopen on Friday ahead of the permanent closure.

Both stores have been removed from the Sam's Club website.

Wisconsin's West Allis and Madison stores will also close Jan. 26. In total, 63 of the 660 Sam’s Clubs locations across the United States will be shuttered this month, the Associated Press reported.

Sam's Club said in a tweet that "After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy. Closing clubs is never easy and we’re committed to working with impacted members and associates through this transition."

There will be 11 remaining Sam's Club locations in Minnesota after the January closures. Costco has nine Minnesota stores, including one in St. Louis Park.
